About Shannon Alter
With over 30 years of experience in hospitality and commercial real estate management, Shannon Alter has taken leadership strategies she developed to other businesses on a global scale. Shannon has worked with organizations who have a desire to communicate with clarity; to gain influence in their market, build better relationships, and grow their business. Her programs are sought throughout the United States and internationally by organizations of all sizes.
As a Certified Property Manager® (CPM®) and National Instructor for the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM®), the Institute of Organization Management (IOM) and the American Management Association (AMA); Shannon has trained professionals in ten countries including Canada, China, South Korea, India, South Africa, Ghana, and Eastern Europe.
She is a member of the National Speakers Association and a frequent speaker at national conferences for associations such as BOMA, IREM, CREW, IFMA, IABC and ICSC.
Shannon has held the volunteer position of Regional Vice President for IREM®, working with members in California and Hawaii and is a Past President of IREM® Orange County. Her third book, Be Influential: Surefire Ways to Improve Your Presentation Skills comes on the heels of Say it With Success: Foolproof Ways to Enhance your Presentation Skills, and Strategies for Working With Small Tenants.
Shannon regularly publishes leadership white papers and numerous industry articles as a member of IREM’s Academy of Authors, and is a seasoned column writer for The Journal of Property Management.
As a graduate of the University of Southern California with a degree in theater arts, Shannon she has leveraged her presentation skills and ability to communicate with a wide array of audiences in the high-touch industries of real estate and hospitality. Her expertise in presentation style gives her to opportunity to speak internationally and and train leaders around the world.
When not spending time entertaining audiences and traveling the world, Shannon enjoys her life in Southern California with her family. She adores her Golden Retriever and loves to vacation just about anywhere.
